Healthy and beautiful skin starts with a good daily habit. You don’t have to spend plenty of money to keep your skin youthful and glowing. You just need to incorporate some habit in your day-to-day life to help you achieve and maintain healthy skin.

Here are some tips that you could add to your everyday routine to nurture your skin:

1. Drink Plenty Of Water

Drinking water benefits your skin. Water plays a vital role in sustaining your body’s physiological balance. It’s because the human body is made up of 60% water. Thus, drinking water isn’t only a great way to quench your thirst, but keeps your body and skin healthy, too.

A study has shown that water could also have skin hydrating effects to the skin (that study would be a great post to read). Considering water is free, drinking it as part of your daily regimen would save you money and hydrate your skin as well.

Another good thing about water is it’s calorie-free. There’s no need to worry about gaining extra weight even after drinking a lot. Well-hydrated skin is a sign of good skin health, so it’s best to consume plenty of water daily.

2. Eat A Nutritious Diet

Other than drinking water, a healthy and balanced diet is also a factor in achieving healthy skin. Always think that what you digest will be reflected on your skin condition. That’s why most people who consume fatty food may develop acne breakouts.

Nourish your skin properly by eating foods rich in vitamin C, such as fruits and vegetables. This vitamin has high amounts of antioxidants, which could help fight harmful toxins in the body. Consuming food with Vitamin C could also help improve the texture of the skin.

During your meal planning and preparation, be sure to add food that are good sources of vitamin C. Avoid eating fatty and fast-food meals because they may affect your skin in a bad way.

3. Wash Your Skin Regularly

Washing is an important part of the daily skincare routine. This practice isn’t just for the face, but for the whole body, too. Regular bath and cleansing could ensure the skin is rid of dirt and bacteria from the environment.

Prolonged exposure to dirt and bacteria could cause skin diseases, such as acne and boils. You could prevent these diseases by cleaning the skin before sleeping or after coming in from the outside. By this, you could stop further damages to your skin that may cause wrinkles and scars.

To keep your skin healthy, take a bath and wash your skin with mild soap and warm water. This could help kill germs and bacteria on your skin. It could also remove dead skin cells that could cause fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Get Enough Sleep

Sleeping for at least eight hours per day could also help maintain youthful skin and boost your immune system. During sleep, your cells regenerate and damaged cells are repaired. Getting inadequate amount of sleep could hinder that process and result in skin aging.

To help your skin maintain its youthful appearance, get enough sleep. Don’t stay up until late. It could help to keep a sleeping schedule for your body to adjust its patterns. There are also diets that could help you sleep better, so you might want to try those as well.

5. Never Forget To Apply Sunscreen

The sun is the most harmful enemy of the skin because of the UV rays it emits. These rays affect the skin negatively by damaging the outer layer of the skin and the collagen tissues. Adverse effects of sun exposure to the skin may include the following:

  • Skin discoloration
  • Freckles
  • Sunburn
  • Skin cancer

To prevent these, always apply a good amount of sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Do this 15 minutes before going outside and reapply after two hours for maximum benefit.
